The Happily Haunted Hotel ~ Repost

When he was young our son would say, “We should live in a hotel some day. I think it would be fun.” You can make statements like that to a set of bohemian parents without it being way out of the rhythm of day to day normality. We didn’t realize what a magician he was at the thyme and his power to manifest situations. I think I finally had that realization the first thyme we went to Japan. We literally accidentally stumbled upon a secluded garden near Mount Fuji. I found a tree to rest beneath, and was struck when I discovered him creating a sigil on the ground with a glorious fallen Japanese tree branch. He was the reason we were in Japan. I would have chosen Ireland. But it was years before Japan when he had the thought of living in a hotel. It probably didn’t inhibit his notion whilst his mom silently agreeing in the back of her mind, yes, living in a hotel could be fun. When we found this place in cyber space we didn’t realize that it was a hotel. The pictures captivated us straight away. Historic beaux arts architecture from the late 1920’s by Joseph Finger from Austria. He imagined & created most of the Art Deco hotels & buildings in Downtown Houston, including our City Hall. Talk about magicians – I greatly enjoy seeing his beautiful handiwork and mind powers at play that live on to this very day every thyme we take a stroll up the streets of downtown. We live on the 17th floor on what is considered a mini penthouse suite. It is a happily haunted haven. I feel like most of the previous hotel guests who have left their imprints behind, were caught up in the swanky sights and the charm of this beautiful beaux arts boutique  hotel. That is the haunt that has been left behind. It feels really good. It feels like home. And I am someone who is very aware of the fact that home is not a physical place. It is a feeling.
